CURRENT SINGLE: “Slow Down Summer”
When Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren decided to start their family, they began with the adoption of their first daughter, Willa Gray, whom Lauren had met while on a mission trip to Uganda. As they were finishing the adoption process, Lauren got pregnant with their second daughter, Ada, and then their daughters Lennon and Lillie in pretty short succession. Thomas has mentioned they would probably adopt another child, and when asked recently if that was still in the cards, he said, “A hundred percent.”
It won’t happen right away, because TR says, “I think right now with four under six, I think Lauren and I were really honest with each other and we were just like, let’s take a pause for four or five years and kinda get the hang of what this is gonna look like.”
Thomas and Lauren have always wanted a big family, and they thought they were going to wait a couple of years before they had their fourth daughter, so it’s entirely possible Lauren could get pregnant again before they adopt another child. But Thomas says, “Adoption is a hundred percent on our brains in the next four to five years. We would love to do that. And Willa Gray talks about it all the time, and it’s something that it’s been put on our hearts very heavily to do that again. We just don’t really know when.”
Fortunately, the adoption process takes planning and time, and it’s not something that can sneak up on you, so Thomas and Lauren should be able to stick to their four to five year adoption plan.
