(AUDIO) MARYLAND-BORN  JACKSON DEAN COMES BY HIS COUNTRY SIDE HONESTLY

DEBUT SINGLE : “Don’t Come Lookin’”

Jackson Dean was born and raised about 20 minutes outside of Annapolis, Maryland, in a town called Odenton.  According to Jackson, in that part of the country, “You’ve got a whole bunch of corn fields and you’ve got a whole bunch of crabs.”

While Maryland might not sound like the most rural or country area to grow up, Jackson says, “The only thing city about Maryland is Baltimore and DC… I was born on a dead end street with a gun range at the end of it that backed up to a swamp.  And I spent more time in there than I did with people.  So, that’s where that comes from.”

As far as developing his love of country music, Jackson says, “My dad was big into the blues and funk but at heart he was old country and stuff.  So that’s where that part of it came in, you know.”

Now, Jackson has taken that rural Maryland upbringing and exposure to country and blues and funk and turned it into his own brand of country music, which you can hear on his debut album, Greenbroke, which he released earlier this month.
