Lady A’s latest single, “What a Song Can Do,” talks about the possibilities of what a song can make you do or inspire you to do, or how it can touch your life.  One of the ways great songs affect people is making them cry.  Dave Haywood recalls one 90’s country song that totally got him.  “I got into country music with a lot of like Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw,” says Dave, “but ‘Don’t Take the Girl’ wrecked me the first time I heard that. I mean, the music video and the song, the story. I miss stories in country music a lot, and they told so many great stories, I think, in the early 90s in their music.”

For Hillary Scott, coming up with a song that has made her cry is not hard, because she says, “I cry at a lot of music. It’s very common practice for me.”

But one song that made Hillary cry she says, “It’s a song that we recorded that we didn’t write, and it’s ‘Ocean.’ That was one that when I heard it and it was Sarah Buxton singing the demo, it just slayed me.”

“Ocean” was the title track from Lady A’s last album, and if you haven’t heard it, or better yet, if you haven’t watched the video, grab a tissue and go check it out.  Hillary’s performance on that song is just devastating.
