(AUDIO) CHARLES AND DAVE OF LADY A SEE A LOT OF THEMSELVES IN THEIR YOUNG SONS

CURRENT SINGLE:  “What A Song Can Do”

Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood both have young sons, and they both see characteristics and traits of themselves in them.  Dave says, “My son Cash, I mean he’s very chill like his dad. He’s a mini me. My daughter’s a mini me of my wife, which is pretty funny. He’s very patient. He can kinda like sit, and we can hang together. I mean, I’m always a little more like introvert and quiet sometimes, and he’s got some of those traits too.”

Cash is seven and a half, which Dave calls a fun age, and this weekend Dave is looking forward to spending some low-key time with Cash and his daughter Lillie. “No plans,” says Dave, “just hangin’ out, grillin’, swimmin’ together, doin’ somethin’ together at the house – is kinda my goal for a good Father’s Day.”

Charles Kelley is looking forward to a similar kind of day with his son, Ward, who is six years old.  And besides the fact that Ward looks a lot like his dad, Charles says, “I see so much of myself in Ward. He definitely is his own person and he’s a lot smarter than I ever was at that age. So, he takes after his mom in that area. But he is fun.”

While Charles may not appreciate this as much when Ward gets older, he says, “He’s startin’ to get a slight defiant side to him, which I like too, you know. I like that he’s testin’ the waters, and I want him to do that. But it’s fun. I mean, you can’t help but see a lot of yourself in these kids.”

Defiance at six is cute sometimes.  Defiance at 16, maybe not so much.
