Kristian Bush says writing and recording the music for his four-album collection 52, in honor of his 52nd birthday, helped him realize how much the music of the 90’s impacted him as an artist and a creator. And it turns out it was a concert he saw in the 90’s that completely redefined for him what a live performance should be.
Kristian Bush – Bruce Springsteen :38
“The first time I got to see Bruce Springsteen, which was in the 90s, it totally reconfigured my brain about how a performance works. I had been under the impression that what we were shooting for was U2 or Nirvana, but I had no idea that what they were shooting for was Springsteen. And once you see it, you get it. And until you do, it’s just another guy that’s kind of mumbling at you. It was like watching someone with skills you didn’t know… It isn’t that you just didn’t know they had those skills, it was, I had never seen that. And there’s a reason that people like that are legendary. And they don’t just show up legendary, they work at it.“
Kristian has released three of the four albums that will make up his 52 project, a total of 52 new songs he decided to release to celebrate his 52nd year of life.
