CURRENTLY FEATURED ON: “Half of Me” with Thomas Rhett
Before Riley Green joined Thomas Rhett on his latest single, “Half of Me,” he actually spent quite a bit of time with Thomas’ dad, Rhett Akins. But he did spend some time with Thomas in a duck blind.
Riley Green – hunting camp with Thomas :31
“Before I even knew Thomas, I’d written with Rhett quite a bit. Obviously he’s a big hunter/outdoorsman, so we hit it off. I think the first time we wrote we talked about hunting for two hours and didn’t even write a song. And then, I ran into Thomas at an awards show, and he mentioned he wanted to go duck huntin’. Hadn’t ever been, and I guess I was the guy. So, we went to Arkansas, and the first night, you know, usually you get in bed early and get up early, and we stayed up really late trying to write songs and talkin’ country music. And so, it was pretty natural for us. We like a lot of the same stuff, and I think a lot of great stories and great songs come from a huntin’ camp.”
Although Riley didn’t have a hand in writing “Half of Me,” when Thomas got into the studio to record the song, he knew Riley would be the perfect guy to joinhim on the song.
