CURRENT SINGLE: “Longneck Way to Go” w/ Jon Pardi
Midland is heading into this week’s CMA Awards with three nominations, including Vocal Group of the Year, plus Musical Event and Video of the Year for “Longneck Way to Go,” their collaboration with Jon Pardi. Bass player Cameron Duddy thinks the song is quintessentially Midland, and when they decided to add a featured guest, Jon Pardi was a natural choice.

Cameron Duddy – “There are certain songs that feel like, immediately Midland. And then others that we come across in the studio that we’re maybe not so sure about, but believe in, and they morph into a Midland song. But I feel like of all the songs that we cut, ‘Longneck Way to Go,’ as we’re tracking it in the studio, felt like, how is this not a song that we’ve cut and recorded before? It felt like that when we were writing it. And then when we were done recording the initial tracking for it, it just felt like it wanted to be an event song, and Jon is somebody who has championed us since the beginning. He took us out on our first real tour, and we’ve remained friends with him to this day. And he’s like the fourth member of Midland. Jon is like our crazy cousin, and putting him on it, just really, was like a cherry on top.”
