Connor Smith’s latest single, “Take It Slow,” is all about not rushing things in a new relationship, and Conner says the song, which he cowrote with Ryan Hurd and Mark Trussell, pretty much sums up his approach to love in real life.

“I wouldn’t say it takes me forever, but I’m not like, jumping in after one day. I think especially in my career that I’m in, it’s such a hectic and crazy thing, and I’m very mindful that it takes a special person to kinda step into that with me. And so, there’s a lot of things that over the last year have probably changed in what I would look for in a girlfriend. And so I definitely think that I’m patient and just making sure that it’s right before I would step into anything.”
