Brantley Gilbert’s latest song, “Heaven by Then” with Blake Shelton, featuring Vince Gill, is all about not wanting to live in a world where certain ways of life don’t exist anymore. There are a couple of lines in the song, including, “When you don’t hear yes sir, yes ma’am,” and “young boys don’t open doors,” that we’re certain Brantley would say apply to his five year old son Barrett and three year old daughter Braylen.

“When it comes to my son and my daughter, you know, there’s some old-school ways of mine, that I want ‘em to understand. I think knowin’ how to do things with your hands and not being afraid or too lazy to work is important. I feel like instilling work ethic and a real moral compass early is important – my wife and I do both. And I believe faith is important to teach kids. And I do believe there’s some things that this world’s kinda movin’ away from that are really important, so we’re gonna make damn sure there’s at least two kids in the world that have some old-school grit in ‘em. I ain’t raisin’ no punk ass kids.”
We have no doubt Brantley is serious about that.
