Brantley Gilbert’s oldest son, Barrett, turns seven on Monday, November 11th, and Brantley admits that Barrett is a special little kid who he worries might need a little toughening up so the world doesn’t run all over him.

“He’s so soft hearted. He just has the kindest little heart. He’s the sweetest little dude and I don’t know where he got it. Me and my wife, neither side of our families are really geared that way. It’s kind of a tough crowd. But he has just got the sweetest little disposition, which as much as I love that, I am a little old school and I just have this feeling the world will chew that up and spit it out. So, we’ve gotta get a little more grit in him and we’re working on that. He’s picking it up. You know, I always thought if I had a son, that he was gonna be just like me and gonna be keepin’ my hands full just trying to keep him from being mean or doing this, that and the other. But it was totally the opposite problem that I never saw comin’. It’s like, okay, now I gotta make him tough.”
