Rascal Flatts’ brand-new single is a collaboration with The Jonas Brothers called “I Dare You.” The song was co-written by The Jonas Brothers and Shay Mooney of Dan & Shay, and Gary, Jay and Joe Don loved the message of the song, but Gary admits there was one word that tripped him up during the recording process.
Rascal Flatts – I Dare You :33
Joe Don Rooney – “I dare you, what a cool thing to say to a girl who’s broken-hearted and maybe afraid to fall in love again or give it a second chance. It’s like, come on, I dare you. I’ll rock your world.”
Gary LeVox – “What’s weird is trying to sing Mulholland.”
Joe Don – “(laughs) That’s a weird one.”
Jay DeMarcus – “In the verse?”
Gary – “Yeah, in the first verse, yeah. Mulholland?”
Jay – “Muholland?”
Gary – “Mu … mu … mahall … mahall … Mulholland?”
Joe Don – “I just think it’s really special, and I think having something new at country radio is just awesome. And to hear The Jonas Brothers on country radio is pretty cool.”
Gary – “Mmm hmm.”
Jay – “It is.”
Gary – “Yep.”
