(AUDIO) FRIENDS’ EXPERIENCES HELPED JACKSON DEAN WRITE “HEAVENS TO BETSY”

current single: “HEAVENS TO BETSY

Jackson Dean’s latest song, “Heavens to Betsy,” is about a father who failed his daughter when he was alive, now trying to make amends with her from heaven. Jackson is fortunate to have a very close relationship with his family, including his dad, who was the one that encouraged Jackson to pursue his music career. Unfortunately, he grew up with plenty of friends who didn’t have that same luxury, and it was witnessing some of their experiences that he was able to draw on for inspiration while writing the song, and emotion to sing the song so convincingly.

“I’ve just seen the situation play out too many times. I had two best friends, They were raised by their mothers. I didn’t know either of their fathers until we had all turned, probably 18, and they slept on my couch for a long time. But yeah, I think everybody’s seen this situation play out a little too many times, but I’ve not seen it, this situation be put this way before.”
