Rascal Flatts has been working on a new album for over a year now, and they just released the first single called “Rewind.” Gary LeVox says they weren’t trying to reinvent the wheel with this new music, but they did want to push themselves musically. “You know, a song is a song that kind of tells the same story it’s just trying to tell it differently in a newer and fresher way,” he says. “And I think that’s what we did. I think we kind of went outside the Rascal Flatts box and took some chances on some songs that we probably wouldn’t have cut before in the past.”
Gary says one way they were able to stretch out a little is by not going into the recording process with any preconceived notions about what they wanted to record. “We really concentrated on having fun and not staying into some core perspective of ‘this is what we’re gonna sing about, this is what we’re gonna do.’ We really just had a blast and the best songs rose to the top and I think ‘Rewind’ is a great way to debut the new album that drops in June. So we’re thrilled to have this music out and just can’t wait for everybody to hear it.”
“Rewind” will be available on iTunes January 21st.
