(AUDIO) Eli Young Band Finds Similarities In 10,000 Towns

The Eli Young Band’s new album, 10,000 Towns, will be released this Tuesday, March 4th. The guys say the title of the album was an obvious choice because they’re road dogs. “We went out there and played every city and every small town that we had a chance to play,” says Mike Eli. “That was one of the reasons we wanted this to be the album title.”

But in playing all those small towns he also says they discovered something. “So many of these small towns all across this country, everyone parties the same way, drinks the same beer. It’s just one of those things, as different as we all are, at the end of the day when we sit down and crack open the beer, we’re all the same, you know,” says Mike, which is another reason they like the title 10,000 Towns.

The new album features their latest single, “Dust,” and their latest #1 song, “Drunk Last Night,” and to have the first single off the album go #1 was a good feeling. They were playing “Drunk Last Night” live on the Kenny Chesney tour just a couple of weeks after they recorded it and Chris Thompson says, “Within the first couple weeks of playing it live, the audiences were really reacting to it, and we were getting really good feedback on it, so we thought we need to run with this one, and Fortunately the label got behind it and the rest is history.”

It was certainly a great start to 10,000 Towns and they hope that the momentum will continue with “Dust” and future singles off the album.

Mike Eli – “I think the biggest reason ‘Ten Thousand Towns’ is the album title is because we’re road dogs. We went out there and played every city and every small town that we had a chance to play. And that was one of the reasons we wanted this to be the album title. Not to mention also, so many of these small town all across this country, everyone parties the same way, drinks the same beer. Chris Thompson – “Yah, it definitely felt great ‘cause we recorded that song, I think it was a week or two later. We were on the road playing it live on the Chesney tour and we just felt so strongly about the song that we thought that we need to start playing it, we didn’t know if it was going to be a single or not, we just really loved it. Within the first couple weeks of playing it live, the audiences were really reacting to it, and we were getting really good feedback on it, so we thought we need to run with this one, and Fortunately the label got behind it and the rest is history.”
