Rascal Flatts has said that they stepped out of their comfort zone and pushed themselves on their new album, Rewind, and Jay DeMarcus explains that a lot of it has to do with keeping up with where country music is and where it is going. “Song writing has changed, first of all, and also the direction of country radio has changed a little bit,” he says. “So, what we’ve tried to do is find songs that fit us, but also fit where country radio is right now. And I say that to say, we felt like if we were chasing something and it was obvious to our fans that they would see right through it. So it took us a long time to get to this point, almost a year later, to find songs that we could sing with conviction and believe in, and were still uniquely Rascal Flatts.”
Jay says that’s one of the reasons this new album took a little longer, because they wanted to make sure they were singing songs that were authentic and true to who Rascal Flatts is, but at the same time were in tune with the current landscape of country music. Jay says, “It’s been a labor of love, but it’s been worth every ounce of time that we’ve put into it because, I think at the end of the day we’ve been able to sit back and sort of surprise ourselves with what we were able to do, differently this time.”
Rewind, the new album from Rascal Flatts, will be available this summer.

Rascal Flatts – how going outside of the box :50
Jay DeMarcus – “Song writing has changed, first of all, and also the direction of country radio has changed a little bit. So, what we’ve tried to do is find songs that fit us, but also fit where country radio is right now. And I say that to say, we felt like if we were chasing something and it was obvious to our fans that they would see right through it. So it took us a long time to get to this point, almost a year later, to find songs that we could sing with conviction and believe in, and were still uniquely Rascal Flatts. So it took us a while to chip away at that and kind of find what this project was we were working on. And it’s been a labor of love, but it’s been worth every ounce of time that we’ve put into it because, I think at the end of the day we’ve been able to sit back and sort of surprise ourselves with what we were able to do, differently this time.”
