(AUDIO) The Band Perry Ready To Mentor Team Blake On The Voice This Week

The Battle Rounds are underway on The Voice, and The Band Perry will be on the show helping to mentor Blake Shelton’s Team. They’re excited to be a part of the show, and when Blake called to invite them, Kimberly says, “I think we thought about it for like point two seconds …”

Not only are they excited to be able to offer constructive critique to Team Blake, but they have a special place for him in their hearts because he was the first one to bring The Band Perry out on tour when their debut single, “Hip to My Heart” was just hitting the radio. Reid says they look up to Blake “literally and figuratively.”

Although some artists might be nervous critiquing other artists, The Band Perry says it reminds them of when they were just getting started. “One thing that we learned from in The Band Perry since day one was receiving constructive critique from people who watch our shows and from people who knew so much more about music and singing and playing in the music business than we did,” says Kimberly.

Neil says, “Even now, 15 years later, we still go back and learn about things that we can do better and things that we are doing well. And so that’s one of the things we pressed to all these contestants and singers is to constantly see what you can do better and keep learning.”

The Battle Rounds continue this week on The Voice and Kimberly says, “[Blake’s] got a pretty good track record. What is it, 3 out of 5 wins at that point? I think it’s gonna be 4 out of 6. I’m feeling good about season six and Team Blake.”

Kimberly – “We were so excited to get the call from Blake Shelton to be a part o season six of The Voice, and be mentors and advisors during the battle rounds. I think we thought about it for like point two seconds …”
Neil – “Before we said yes.”
Kimberly – “Like, ‘Yes! Absolutely!’ And Blake’s kind of like the big brother in country music. He was one of the first guys to bring us out on tour, back when ‘Hip to My Heart’ came out on the radio, and so he definitely is somebody that, Reid, you say we look up to him?”
Reid – “We do. Literally and figuratively.”
Kimberly – “He’s so tall.”
Neil – “Go Team Blake!”

The Band Perry – The Voice 2 :40
Kimberly – “Well you know, one thing that we learned from in The Band Perry since day one was receiving constructive critique from people who watch our shows and from people who knew so much more about music and singing and playing in the music business than we did. We got started when we were kids. Neil, you were eight years old, Reid was ten and I was 15, and every performance we’ve ever done we’ve taped it, we’ve looked at the tape afterwards and tried to better our craft.”
Neil – “Well even now, 15 years later, we still go back and learn about things that we can do better and things that we are doing well. And so that’s one of the things we pressed to all these contestants and singers is to constantly see what you can do better and keep learning.”

The Band Perry – The Voice 3 :49
Reid – “It was really great to see Blake work with his team. Like Kimberly said, he is a big brother to country music and he was a big brother and coach to his team, and he really does care about these kids and adults that he has out there with him. And he was talking about the tough decision that he has to make in the Battle Rounds, where he has to get rid of half his team and he has to pick which ones he’s gonna keep around, and you could tell that was really bothering him that he was coming up to that decision.”
Kimberly – “At least weighing on him for sure. And you know, one thing about Blake, he’s extremely competitive too. I love to watch from a distance, the rivalry between Blake and Adam Levine. But he’s got a pretty good track record. What is it, 3 out of 5 wins at that point?”
Neil – “Yeah, he’s got the winning streak.”
Kimberly – “I think it’s gonna be 4 out of 6. I’m feeling good about season six and Team Blake.”
