(AUDIO) Tim McGraw Says The Most Important Thing About A Tour Is Energy

Tim McGraw will kick off his Sundown Heaven Town Tour in May, and he says when planning a tour, it’s a collective effort. “I like brain stormin’, I like puttin’ everybody in a room,” says Tim. “The people I hire to put a tour together; my band; people that work for me; my wife; friends even. What do you like? I mean, what do I like?”

Tim says the most important thing for any tour is creating a stage that energizes him and his band, because if they’re energized then the crowd will be energized. He says, “You can have every technology that’s out there, you can have the biggest screens, and you can have the best lights and all that kinda stuff, but if you’re not havin’ fun, then they’re not gonna have fun. So, I think I like havin’ all that stuff, and sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s not and sometimes I feel like havin’ it, sometimes I don’t. Even in the middle of havin’ it sometimes I feel like I wish I didn’t have it. But, it’s just about when we’re puttin’ a tour together what makes us feel like really excited about it.”

Tim’s Sundown Heaven Town Tour will kick off May 8th in Fresno, CA, with special guests Kip Moore and Cassadee Pope.

Tim McGraw – putting a tour together 1:01
“To me, it’s about when we’re puttin’ the tour together, I like brain stormin’, I like puttin’ everybody in a room; the people I hire to put a tour together; my band; people that work for me; my wife; friends even. What do you like? I mean, what do I like? And the bottom line is, we might decide one year to do a black stage with white lights, and nothin’ on the stage but us, and if we are energized by that, then that’s the goal we’re lookin’ for. The goal is to energize us, ‘cause if we’re energized then that bleeds into the audience. ‘Cause the only way that you can get the audience excited and havin’ fun, and enjoyin’ bein’ there is if they see you energized. You can have every technology that’s out there, you can have the biggest screens, and you can have the best lights and all that kinda stuff, but if you’re not havin’ fun, then they’re not gonna have fun.
