Cassadee Pope already has her second single, “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart,” on the radio, but it wasn’t that long ago that she was being crowned the winner on NBC’s The Voice. The show is in its sixth season right now, and the fan voted eliminations have begun, so Cassadee has a couple of pieces of advice for the remaining contestants. “First of all,” she says, “I would tell them to make sure they breathe before they go on stage, because the nerves can really affect you. It’s like you forget how to sing, you get so nervous. And the second part would be to go with your gut. Really try and hone in on who exactly it is you are, because in those certain situations you really question it, and if you’re not sure who you are then the audience will be unsure, and you need them to believe in you.”
It was during her time on The Voice working with Blake Shelton that she rediscovered her country roots, which led to her record deal with Republic Nashville.
