Chris Thompson of Eli Young Band grew up surrounded by family members who served in the military, so days like Memorial Day hold extra special meaning for him. “I remember my step-dad and his entire family; all of his brothers, his dad, his dad’s brothers, everyone served in the Navy,” says Chris. “Every Memorial Day, or family get-together in general, we’d sit around we’d hear stories about all that, and it was always just really cool to hear and it was always, you could tell it was a great bonding thing for them.”
Besides the stories, Chris says, “I remember growing up with all sorts of memorabilia, and stuff like that around the house, and we were taught from day number one to respect that, and to honor it and I thought that was always important.”
Eli Young Band is currently out on the road promoting their latest single, “Dust,” with dates on Jake Owen’s Days of Gold Tour, Darius Rucker’s True Believers Tour and their own headlining dates.

Eli Young Band – Memorial Day Chris :26
Chris – “I remember my step-dad and his entire family; all of his brothers, his dad, his dad’s brothers, everyone served in the Navy. Every Memorial Day, or family get-together in general, we’d sit around we’d hear stories about all that, and it was always just really cool to hear and it was always, you could tell it was a great bonding thing for them. But also, I remember growing up with all sorts of memorabilia, and stuff like that around the house, and we were taught from day number one to respect that, and to honor it and I thought that was always important.”
