Maddie & Tae’s debut single is called “Girl In a Country Song,” and it basically pokes fun at all the stereo-typical “bro country” songs that paint this picture of the same girl in bikini tops, with little cut off shorts, long legs, sitting in a truck, etc. The girls even call out a few specific songs and they say writing the song was a blast. They remember they wrote the song on a Monday and Maddie says, “We were just sitting there laughing, literally. Mondays can kinda be sucky, but this Monday was anything but that. It was so much fun.”

So far they’ve received positive feedback from both women and men about the song, including some of the guys they call out in “Girl in a Country Song,” and Maddie says, “We wrote it in all good fun and so we’re hoping that everyone takes it that way. We were just havin’ fun and coming at it with a different perspective.”

“Girl in a Country Song” is the first release off of Maddie & Tae’s debut album, which they’re currently working on for release in late 2014 or early 2015.
