Maddie & Tae’s new song, “Girl in a Country Song” pokes fun at a lot of the cliché descriptions of girls in country songs today, such as barefeet, bikini tops, skin tight cut off shorts, sitting quietly in the passenger seat of the guy’s truck, etc. They even make specific references to some of the songs they’re poking fun at, but they say it’s all in good fun and they’ve even heard from guys like Chase Rice who told them he loves their song. Tae says, “Chase Rice is so sweet. He’s awesome. We love him. He actually tweeted us on Twitter.”

Maddie clarifies that they wrote “Girl in a Country Song” all in good fun and she says, “We love all the guys that we’re poking fun at too. They’re our idols and so if we got to hear from them that would be awesome.”

Tae agrees. “If we even thought that they were listening to our song that would be insane.”

Maddie & Tae’s have this to say about each other: Tae: “I heard Maddie’s voice and thought she was so good. While some girls would’ve seen her as the competition, I was just excited to have made a friend who had the same passion as I did!”

Maddie: “Both of us have such a huge amount of respect for each other. When we started harmonizing together that first time, we knew there was something special there.”
