(AUDIO) Brantley Gilbert Considers His Pawpaw One Of His Greatest Influences

If Brantley Gilbert had to choose the person he admires the most outside of music he says it would absolutely be his late grandfather whom he called PawPaw. Brantley says, “I lost him a few years back from a battle with lymphoma and I think about him every day, and all the lessons I learned. All the things he taught me, I’ll never be able to write enough songs to really grasp all that and get all his messages out, but I know he made an unbelievable impact in my life and continues to, to this day. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him.”

While there are several people who have impacted Brantley’s life he says, “Between [my PawPaw] and my mom and my dad, they’ve always been my one true north and a safe foundation.”

Brantley is currently enjoying his latest top ten hit with “Small Town Throwdown” and he’s busy touring the country on the latest leg of his Let It Ride Tour, which will run through November.

Brantley Gilbert – who admire outside of music :37
“Outside of music there’s a lot of people I admire. But, the first person that stands out in my mind, that would have to be my pawpaw. I lost him a few years back from a battle with lymphoma and I think about him every day, and all the lessons I learned. All the things he taught me, I’ll never be able to write enough songs to really grasp all that and get all his messages out, but I know he made an unbelievable impact in my life and continues to, to this day. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss him. Between him and my mom, and my dad, they’ve always been my one true north and a safe foundation. So, definitely my pawpaw stands out.”
