Once again, Reba made history this week. She became the first artist to sign with the new label NASH ICON MUSIC, a joint venture between Big Machine and Cumulus. For her fans that have bought 56 million albums and supported her through 35 #1 songs, in a career spanning into 5 decades; That means – new music. And new music is exciting for Reba. She says they have 11 songs recorded so far, and she’s going back in the studio to record more.
It’s been 5 years since her last release, and as Reba puts it, “We’ve got the greatest songwriters in the world here in Nashville” and “It’s a huge thrill to have this outlet.”
If you’re wondering what “the sound” is like, Reba reflects on how her husband described it as she was choosing songs…

Reba – describes new songs :29
Narvel described it closer to…the sound being closer to “Starting Over Again.” Like, I’d play him this demo and say, what do you think? He’d say… hmm, that’s a guy song, I don’t know how it’s gonna sound with you singing it, and get in the studio and he’d say…ok, you made it your own. So, it’s kind of those interpretive type things that I really get a kick out of. We’ve got happy, sad, slow, fast. Got a drinkin’ song in there. And for the first time in a long time, I’ve got a love song. A true, to the heart and soul, love song. Don’t have many of those, so I’m really tickled.
