The Band Perry has come up with a good testing ground when they’re trying to decide what songs to record and which ones to put on their albums. “One place that we try them out is actually during sound checks before a live show,” explains Kimberly. “We get the band and see how it’s gonna feel live because that’s the element that we knew first and foremost, was live performance. So, if it’s workin’ on stage sometimes we’ll try it out in front of a crowd, it’s usually the right song.”
Because Kimberly Reid and Neil are all great songwriters in their own right, they say another test for potential songs, if they’re ones they didn’t write, is if it sounds and feels like they could have written it. Neil says, “The three of us have a particular style of song writing that we are trying to do, and if it’s a song that some friends of our have written and it feels like something we would have written then we’ll absolutely cut it.”
The Band Perry is working on their third album, and they just released “Gentle On My Mind” as their new single, which is a cover of Glen Campbell’s 1967 classic, that appears on the soundtrack EP for the movie Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me.

WHAT THEY’RE DOING THIS WEEK – NOVEMBER 3, 2014 – MONDAY
Last week, The Band Perry spent much of their time in Los Angeles writing songs for their upcoming third album. The family group will be performing on the live show and is a nominee at Wednesday’s (11/5) CMA Awards in Nashville. On Saturday (11/8), the trio has a show at the Microsoft Store opening in Dallas, Texas where fans can see them for free.
