Before Oliver Hudson got the role as Edgehill Record Label president Jeff Fordham on ABC’s Nashville, he played the harmlessly likable Adam Rhodes on the CBS sitcom Rules of Engagement. “I played like a, just a dummy, just a borderline sort of moron,” says Oliver.
On Nashville, his character, Jeff Fordham is much different, although he didn’t start out that way. Oliver says, “When I met with ‘Nashville’, a few people in L.A., and we’re talkin’ about character, you know he was a cutthroat sort of record label guy. Right? But, he wasn’t what we see him to be now. Things shift. So I came here with an idea of what this role was gonna be and it just shifted into this sort of no-feeling villain, who’s just cold.”
But Oliver’s says he’s okay with his character getting much colder and more villainous. “It wasn’t supposed to be this evil and it just turned into that and it’s really fun. I’ve never done anything like it.”
You can see Oliver as Jeff Fordham every Wednesday night when Nashville airs at 10pm ET/9pm CT on ABC.

Nashville – Oliver Hudson playing Fordham :43
