Drake White is not only a great singer, but a great writer, although he admits when he was very young his attempt to rhyme words would sometimes get him in trouble. He says, “We laugh about it now because I used to get in trouble rhyming. I would start rhymin’ with duck, and you know where that ends up. That’s true, like I always rhymed at a very young age, seven, eight, nine.”

Some people would consider songwriting a form of poetry, and Drake says, “Poetry always intrigued me, and I grew up in a place where guys didn’t cry. So poetry was like, I didn’t really tap into it until I was 14 or 15, and that was kind of a secretive type thing.”

“My dad worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and my mother was a cosmetologist in a garage one-chair shop. So, I mean, it was a pretty awesome, cool, simple type of life.
