Craig Wayne Boyd had been paying his dues and pounding the pavement in Nashville for many years trying to make something happen with his music career before The Voice came along. While it might have been nice to have the success he’s having now happen earlier in his life, Craig says having it happen now, “It truly feels like validation that all the hard work that I’ve put in up to this point has been worth it.”
There were times along the way he thought about quitting, simply because he couldn’t afford to keep going. He says, “I remember a little more than a year ago, sitting in a pick-up outside of a club, after I had basically played to no one and talking to my drummer and saying, ‘Listen, I may have to quit because it’s not paying my bills. I’m losing my house. I lost my pick-up.’ I didn’t know what I was gonna do.”
Fortunately people around him who believe in him, like his drummer, wouldn’t let him give up on his dream. Shortly after that the invitation to audition for The Voice came in the mail and the rest, as they say, is history. Now Craig has his debut single, “My Baby’s Got a Smile on Her Face,” and he’s working on his first studio album for Dot Records.

Craig Wayne Boyd – validation for hard work :35
“It truly feels like validation that all the hard work that I’ve put in up to this point has been worth it. I remember a little more than a year ago, sitting in a pick-up outside of a club, after I had basically played to no one and talking to my drummer and saying, ‘Listen, I may have to quit because it’s not paying my bills. I’m losing my house. I lost my pick-up.’ I didn’t know what I was gonna do, and him telling me, ‘Dude, you can’t do that.’ And then randomly, the opportunity came up to go audition a few months out for The Voice. And I was like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna go do that.’”
