Eli Young Band released their debut album 12 years ago, but they’ve been making music together for more years than that. With four guys in the band, especially when they were younger and first starting out, it might have been easy to have squabbles and struggle to stay together, but drummer Chris Thompson says, “I think one thing that really keeps us together is sharing these life experiences. We all graduated college around the same time; we all got married around the same time; now babies are comin’ around the same time. We’ve shared all these big steps in our careers together and I think that when we look at each other we know like where we’ve been, what we’ve done, what we’ve accomplished and we’ve done it together.”
Lead guitarist James Young says the fact that they were all friends before music was on the radar also helped them to remain friends all these years. At this point, they’re more like family and lead singer Mike Eli says, “I think no matter the ups, the downs, through the good, through the bad, we’re still family and so if you look at it that way there’s no choice but to be a band together.”
Eli Young Band will release their brand new single, “Turn It On,” next month.

Chris – “I think one thing that really keeps us together is sharing these life experiences. We all graduated college around the same time; we all got married around the same time; now babies are comin’ around the same time. We’ve shared all these big steps in our careers together and I think that when we look at each other we know like where we’ve been, what we’ve done, what we’ve accomplished and we’ve done it together and I think that just gives us a nice mutual respect and helps us …”
James – “We all knew where we came from too and we were friends before music was even on the radar.”
Mike – “At the end of the day we’re family and I think no matter the ups, the downs, through the good, through the bad, we’re still family and so if you look at it that way there’s no choice but to be a band together. So, no lookin’ back now.”
