(AUDIO) Tim McGraw Hopes To Make His New Single A Big Family Affair

Tim McGraw says he knew the first time he heard “Diamond Rings and Old Barstools” that he was going to record it, and even though the demo he heard wasn’t a duet, he knew exactly how he wanted to record it. Tim loves the song because he says, “I love just great Country melodies and great Country sentiments, and that song has all of that. What I love about it as much as anything, I love singin’ that kinda stuff and that stuff just comes so natural for me to sing.”

Tim recorded the song as a duet with his cousin Catherine Dunn and he’s hoping that the song will become a big hit. “She’s my Mom’s baby sister’s daughter,” says Tim, “so it sorta keeps it in the family. I hope it’s a big hit record because I’d love for it to be a family kinda thing.”

Diamond Rings and Old Barstools is featured on Tim’s latest album, Sundown Heaven Town.

Tim McGraw – Diamond Rings Barstools
“I love just great Country melodies and great Country sentiments, and that song has all of that. What I love about it as much as anything, I love singin’ that kinda stuff and that stuff just comes so natural for me to sing. But, my cousin Catherine Dunn is singin’ on the record with me and she’s a great singer. She’s my Mom’s baby sister’s daughter, so it sorta keeps it in the family. I hope it’s a big hit record because I’d love for it to be a family kinda thing. The first time I heard it, it was instant and I knew I was gonna record it, there was just no doubt about it. I think the version when I first heard it, the song, and I think Jonathan Singleton wrote the song, it was just on acoustic guitar and him singin’. I knew right away that I wanted to do it, and I knew how I wanted to do it.”
