Shane Profitt didn’t even start playing guitar until about five years ago. And his first public performance happened shortly after, thanks to a last minute offer from a brand new restaurant in his hometown.
Shane Profitt – when decide perform out :46
“So, I had picked up a guitar, and I had been playin’ for about six months. And there was a Cajun restaurant here in Columbia that had opened up, and they wanted entertainment for their grand openin’. All I had was one guitar And I had no sound equipment whatsoever. And they had no stage, no, nothin’. Their original plan, they had a full band that they had hired, and they canceled at the last minute. And I had been uploading stuff on Facebook, videos and stuff. Well, the owner had seen that, and she said, ‘Hey, I’ll give you 150 bucks and all you can eat crawfish if you come down here and you sit on a cooler and you play in the middle of the restaurant. So, that’s exactly what I did. I made 600 and somethin’ dollars in tips that night, and I thought, man, I can get down with this.”
And the rest, as they say, is history.
