When Hank Jr. is writing a song, he doesn’t sit and wonder if he’s writing something that gonna fit today’s country format. And believe it or not, he’s not looking to make a statement, it just sometimes happens.
Hank continues to break records too. He recently debuted at #2 on Billboard with his new album, It’s About Time. That was a career high for him. Over the span of 52 years of recording, he has set and broken a lot of records. Not sure who else in country music has possibly done this, but Hank released and charted “Country Boy Can Survive,” 3 different times over the span of 19 years. He says, the 3rd time, it was playing on the radio within 24 hours of leaving the studio…

Hank Jr. – America Can Survive :21
“When some of the bad things were happening, well it was after 9-11. Of course, that’s exactly when it was. And I had taken “Country Boy Can Survive” and done a re-write, about ya know, (sings) “America Can Survive” it was just a re-write…and that’s how it happened. Somebody sittin’ out there and next thing I know, it’s on the radio the next day…laughs.”
