A Thousand Horses is out on the We Were Here Tour with Jason Aldean, and besides getting to share a stage with Jason, they’ve also been invited to participate in some pre-show activities. Zach Brown says, “They play basketball every day, actually. They thought since we were tall guys that we’d be good at basketball, but the first day they were like, oh…”
Michael Hobby says when it comes to basketball, “We’re good at like coachin’ people on and bein’ like, ‘Yeah, high five! You did great! Great shot.’ But we don’t really…we’re not good at basketball.”
This isn’t the first time A Thousand Horses has underwhelmed a headliner with their sports skills. Last year when they were on tour with Darius Rucker, he bought them a Playstation 4 to participate in a tour-wide Madden tournament, but they were pretty awful at that too. Michael says the reality is, “We’re hangers. We hang. We like to hang out. We have a good time.” He says a lot of the reason he’s not good at sports is because, “About the time I got great at sports I got a guitar and I quit sports.”
Fortunately, A Thousand Horses is much better at music than they are at sports, as evidenced by their latest single, “Southernality,” which is the title track off their debut album.
