(AUDIO) A Thousand Horses Never “Tried” To Be A Band

A Thousand Horses scored their first #1 song with “Smoke,” and their latest single, “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial,” is already in the top 25. When lead singer Michael Hobby reflects on the band’s success, fortunately nothing about the band was contrived or took a whole lot of thought to come together. He says, “There’s never really a thought, or like we looked at it as we need to be a band ‘cause there’s too many solos or too many duos. We’ve always been a band. I mean, Bill and I have had a band together since we were 15 years old growin’ up in South Carolina, and Graham’s been playing with us kind a on and off since then too, when we were kids growin’ up. We met Zack, I mean it’s always been A Thousand Horses.”

Michael says another key to A Thousand Horses’ success is that they never tried to be anything but themselves. “We’ve always kind a kept our head down and kind a do what we do and it’s amazing to see the response and fans getting behind it,” he says.

A Thousand Horses has tour dates booked through December 12th, then they’ll take about a month off before joining Jason Aldean on his We Were Here Tour 2016, which kicks off on January 14th in Moline, Illinois.

A Thousand Horses – success as a band :31
Michael Hobby – “There’s never really a thought, or like we looked at it as we need to be a band ‘cause there’s too many solos or too many duos. We’ve always been a band. I mean, Bill and I have had a band together since we were 15 years old growin’ up in South Carolina, and Graham’s been playing with us kind a on and off since then too, when we were kids growin’ up. We met Zack, I mean it’s always been A Thousand Horses, and we’ve always kind a kept our head down and kind a do what we do and it’s amazing to see the response and fans getting behind it. So, I wouldn’t say that it’s a conscious thought of, we have to be a band, it’s just kind a who we are. We always have been. That’s why we started writin’ songs.”
