(AUDIO) A Thousand Horses Remember Their Early Career Inspirations

Michael Hobby and Zach Brown of A Thousand Horses remember some of the early experiences that shaped their decisions to be singers and songwriters. Michael says, “I just remember my first concert was Alan Jackson and it was on the ‘Midnight in Montgomery’ Tour. After that, I was like, that’s what I wanna do and I listened and listened and listened and just kept goin’ and goin’ and now here we are. So, that’d be my first example of that for sure.”

Zach remembers hearing the song “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” which was recorded by the alt-rock band Deep Blue Something in the mid-90’s. He says, “I don’t know if I constantly thought about bein’ a songwriter, but (that) made me realize that there was more music out there than just what my parents listen to.” Zach says, “I remember hearing that song and bein’ like, ‘Whoa, this is music, this is awesome, I gotta explore this’. So, that was a cool moment.”

All of A Thousand Horses’ influences led them to pursuit music, and ultimately form their band. Now they have a number one song to their credit, and their latest single, “(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial,” climbing the charts.
