These days, A Thousand Horses enjoys listening to playlists when they’re on their bus, but they still remember the days when putting together their favorite music was a lot more primitive. Zach Brown says, “We came around right when like you could start burning CDs. Like I just remember thinking it was so incredible that you can put music on a CD that was like from anything you wanted. It was just crazy.”
For lead singer Michael Hobby, getting his favorite music all in one place was a lot more tedious. He says, “I lived way out in the country so all we had was radio and if you got a signal of a radio station I would always put cassette tapes in and hit record, you know, and then listen to those back. The quality was amazing,” he says with total sarcasm, “but that was way back when I was a kid cause that’s all you’d get is a little radio station sometimes, a country station or sometimes you’d get a hip hop station you record that.”
Fortunately now they can just hit up iTunes or a streaming service like Spotify if they want to put together a playlist. That’s also where their fans can get their latest single, “Preachin’ to the Choir,” to add to their playlists.
