New group A Thousand Horses has been making music together for years, but they just released their debut single on Republic Nashville called “Smoke.” The band is made up of Michael Hobby – Lead Vocal, Bill Satcher – Lead Guitar, Zach Brown – Guitar and Vocal, and Graham Deloach – Bass and Vocal. When it came time to choose a name for the band, Zach says, “We were sittin’ around tryin’ to think of a band name, I don’t know if anyone’s tried to think of a band name before, but it can get a little ridiculous. So we were throwin’ out all kinds a funny names and I think Michael, he suggested, ‘What about A Thousand Horses?’.”
The name was part of a line of a song they had written back when they were first getting started and Zach says, “We all thought, it’s kind of a cool name, it’s kinda powerful sounding and that’s what the song was about, so we sat with it and we decided that was cool, so we stuck with it.”
“Smoke” is the lead single off of A Thousand Horses’ debut album, Southernality, which will be released later this year.

Zach – “The band name ‘A Thousand Horses’ kinda came from a song that we wrote back when we were first gettin’ started. So we were throwin’ out all kinds a funny names and I think Michael, he suggested, ‘What about A Thousand Horses?’, based on that song.
