Avenue Beat’s debut single, “Ruin That for Me,” is about not letting a break-up ruin places or things or experiences for you in the future, like not wearing a certain dress because it was his favorite, or not going to a certain bar, because that’s where the two of you used to hang out. But what happens when you are friends with both members of a couple and they break up? Do the girls in Avenue Beat feel the need to pick a side? Avenue Beat’s Savana Santos jokes, “I think it depends on who did what, what happened, was there a cheater? I think if someone did something really bad, don’t let ‘em back in. Keep that toxic energy out of your life.”
But, if there wasn’t anything truly awful that caused the break up and it just didn’t work out for whatever reason, Savana doesn’t think it’s necessary to choose a side. She says, “If it was chill, give it some time and it’ll be chill again.”
“Ruin That for Me” is one of four songs on Avenue Beat’s debut EP, which is available now, wherever music is streamed or sold.
