To be a successful songwriter in country music, most established writers will tell you that you must be willing to be honest and vulnerable in your writing. For Tyler Rich, that was never really a problem because he says, “I feel like in my earlier songwriting days, in and out of bands, in my like really early twenties, you know those like pop rock emo bands and all that stuff, it was all about emotions. So it was all about pouring everything out that you had inside.”
Since Tyler often uses his personal life and stories as inspiration for his songs, he says, “I feel like it made it easy, at the point of where I’m at now, where I don’t really care what somebody reads or hears about my life, because if anything, hopefully it’s going to help them or inspire them. Personal stories man, I mean you can hear it in somebody’s voice when they mean it.”
Tyler‘s latest song, “Leave Her Wild,” was inspired by his fiancée, Sabina, and his desire not to try to change her once they were in a relationship, like so many of her previous boyfriends tried to do.
