New Year’s Eve is a time when a lot of people make resolutions to change, quit or improve things in their life, but when we asked Brantley Gilbert if he ever makes any kind of resolutions, he said, “Not necessarily. A lot of people make like the resolutions and things, but I never really stuck to many of those, so I don’t do that.”
He has done some things to honor New Year’s superstitions. For instance, Brantley says, “I remember my mom used to do the black-eyed pea thing. I somewhat remember that a little bit. I think she said you make more money the more black-eyed peas you eat. But yeah, I remember she used to do that.”
Whatever superstitions for luck Brantley observed last New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, he might want to do them again, since 2019 brought him another #1 song, with “What Happens in a Small Town,” which he sings with Lindsay Ell. And now he’s got a brand new song, “Fire’t Up,” that he’s ready to kick things up a notch with in 2020.
