(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT BELIEVES GOD’S PLANS FOR US ARE BIGGER THAN OUR OWN

Brantley Gilbert’s song, “Hard Days,” is all about how the hard days in our life make the good days that much sweeter and make you able to appreciate them more.  Based on that outlook on life, we wondered if Brantley believes everything in life happens for a reason.  “I do,” he says.  “I think that belief can be challenged.  I think any belief we have in life, it can be challenged from time to time, and I think that’s where faith kicks in. That’s one of those things where you just have to believe. I believe there’s something bigger than me, and I’m a God guy so, I believe that is God.”

Brantley has certainly faced his fair share of hard days in his life, but thanks to kicking alcohol and opioids almost nine years ago, the love and support of his wife and family and his strong faith, he has managed to experience much happier days and appreciate the life he’s been blessed with.  But he’s also able to look back on some of his struggles, and even present day struggles he may face with more clarity.  He says, “I believe when you don’t understand something or when it feels like you’re on your own or you’ve hit a dead end or whatever, that’s when two sets of footprints in the sand become one.  And people always say I don’t think God puts you through anything you can’t handle, and I don’t believe in that. I believe He does and I believe He does it on purpose. That’s when you’re supposed to lean on Him.”

Even though Brantley believes everything happens for a reason, and he puts his trust and faith in God, he also admits he’s human and sometimes struggles in the moment to understand why hard days might be happening.  “ I have to also say that there have been times in my life where I felt like I had to figure everything out on my own. And it says it in the song, ‘If you never hit rock bottom, never cussed the sky.’  I think we all get frustrated when things don’t go our way, and it’s another one of those things where you just have to sit back and realize that your plan, at the end of the day, doesn’t add up to much compared to His.”

“Hard Days” is the first brand new song Brantley has released since releasing his Fire & Brimstone album almost a year ago.
