Brantley Gilbert prefers to write all his own songs because he feels like it’s the best way to convey his own truth and tell his own story, but he admits there are songs he’s heard that feel like he could have written them, or even make him wish he had. For example, Brantley says, “I was listening to, not an older, older song, but an older song from Jamey Johnson, ‘You Should Have Seen it In Color,’ last night, and man, I’m still blown away by the lyrics and the content in that song and just the way it’s sung. I think it’s almost perfect. So there’s definitely songs like that.”
One song Brantley is proud to have written is his powerful new single, “One Hell of an Amen,” off of his latest album, Let It Ride.

“Oh yeah, without a doubt. There’s definitely songs out there I wish I’d have wrote. I was listening to, not an older, older song, but an older song from Jamey Johnson, “You Should Have Seen it In Color,” last night, and man, I’m still blown away by the lyrics and the content in that song and just the way it’s sung.
