Brantley Gilbert had quite an eventful weekend with the birth of his son, Abram Howell Gilbert. Friday night, Brantley was on stage playing a show in Tupelo, Mississippi, when he suddenly got pulled off stage because his wife, Amber, was in labor on his tour bus. Amazingly, Brantley was by Amber’s side and witnessed the birth of their son on his bus, he took a moment to call his mom to let her know she had another grandbaby, and then he returned to the stage, shared the news of the baby’s arrival with the crowd and finished his show!

Abram joins big brother Barrett, who turns seven next month, and his big sister Braylen, who is five. And Brantley remembers when he and Amber were expecting Barrett. He wanted to write a song for him, and he kept waiting for the perfect moment of inspiration.

Brantley Gilbert – watching birth :33

“You hear during the entire pregnancy that, man, when they get here, when you hold ‘em for the first time, everything will set in. It’s just this life changing moment. And I was like, alright, so I’ll write a song about that. But like against the advice of almost every man I know that said, don’t look down there. Don’t look. I watched everything. I mean, everything. And while it was beautiful, I gained so much respect for women. When they say women are tougher than men, they mean it. And it was an amazing thing to watch, and I’ll never forget it. But that being said, it’s not something to write a country song about. It’s just not.”
