CURRENT SINGLE: “Hard Days”
For some artists, the last year being off the road has been a creative boom, but Brantley Gilbert says being creative during the pandemic has been more challenging for him because he’s not a big fan of writing over Zoom. “The creative process during this time off for me hasn’t been nonexistent. I’ve had brief moments where, like, I go on a two or three day bender, where I’m like hammerin’ down and writin’ a lot of songs.”
Other than that, Brantley has tried to figure out a way to write songs during this time, and he says, “We just now figured out a process … there’s a few guys that I work with, if they’re ever in a co-write, whether it be a Zoom write or anything, if they find something that sounds like me or looks like me, they’ll kind of freeze on it and send the track to me and kinda let me work with them on it that way. Like they’ll send something to me that’s got some holes in it, or a verse missing, or a whole second half of a song. And that kind of allows me, if I do have an idea, you know I can write an entire song or fill in holes or do whatever.”
At a time when Brantley has really been missing being on the road and trying to find ways to stay busy, he says this new songwriting process has “been really beneficial. That’s helped a lot.”
