(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT GETS A DOSE OF HIS OWN MUSICAL MEDICINE

CURRENT SINGLE: “Hard Days”

Brantley Gilbert’s latest single, “Hard Days,” is a reminder that the hard days in our lives, and getting through them, makes the good days that much sweeter.  And even though the song was partly inspired by Brantley’s life and all the hard days he’s been through to get to where he is now, even he sometimes forgets his own message.  For instance, Brantley says, “My right hand man – Steve Tussman – Steve’s been with me for as long as I can remember, and he quoted the words to (‘Hard Days’) to me last night. I was b-wording and moaning, as we like to call it, and he was like, ‘Hey man …’ and just out of nowhere, just started reciting, you know, the words to this song I wrote.”

It was a reminder to Brantley that whatever he was complaining about would get better, and not to get too caught up in it, and Brantley says hearing his own lyrics recited back to him definitely worked and got his attention.  And he admits that sometimes he needs someone to do something like recite his own lyrics back to him, because he says, “It’s like that thing where you can give anybody advice and you can write anybody a song, but applying that song to yourself it’s just tough.”

Luckily for Brantley, he’s got plenty of people around him to help him practice what he sings about.

Brantley Gilbert – song used against him  :28

My right hand man – Steve Tussman – Steve’s been with me for as long as I can remember, and he quoted the words to this song to me last night. I was b-wording and moaning as we like to call it, and he was like, ‘Hey man …’ and just out of nowhere, just started reciting, you know, the words to this song I wrote. I was like, ‘Okay.’ It’s like that thing where you can give anybody advice and you can write anybody a song, but applying that song to yourself it’s just tough.”
