(AUDIO) Brantley Gilbert Moves Back To His Roots In Georgia

Brantley Gilbert spends his fair share of time in Nashville but he admits that it’s just not where he is meant to live, so he recently moved back to his hometown in Georgia. He says, “I tried livin’ in Nashville for about a year and it just wasn’t for me. I’m not a subdivision guy either, I found that out. And I don’t need a pool at my house ‘cause I can’t sit by it, it makes me feel lazy.”

Brantley explains that the home he lives in now, “I built a little log home in my hometown in Georgia. It’s not a mansion, it’s simple, it’s perfect for us, me and my two little brothers live with me. And at my home in Georgia I can walk out on my back porch and shoot an AR15 if I feel like it. Definitely I think where I’m at now is where I’m meant to be.”

He also thinks being at home in Georgia is what’s best for his career. “It’s where I was born and comin’ up and writin’ songs, you know, the people that were around me and the town I grew up in were everything. That’s what those songs were and continue to be. So you know, I gotta be around that to write what I write. It’s where I was born, it’s where they’ll put me in the ground.”

Just As I Am, Brantley’s new album, featuring his latest single, “Bottoms Up,” will be released on May 20th.
