Brantley Gilbert enjoys recording fun party songs, but he says it’s the reaction he gets to songs like his current single, “One Hell of an Amen,” that makes all of his songwriting worth it. “Havin’ people come up to you and our supporters come up to me and say, you know, ‘This song helped me get through Iraq’ or ‘This motivated me to go get my girl back’ or ‘helped me cope with the loss of a family member or close friend,’ that’s what really makes all this worth it.”
Brantley only records songs that he helped write, that speak his truth and tell his story and he says, “Of course it’s expression, that’s cliché, everybody knows that. But for me, as well as therapy, these songs are actually changin’ people’s lives, and that’s definitely music in a whole for me. That’s what it’s all about.”

Brantley Gilbert – people being affected by songs :39
“Havin’ people come up to you and our supporters come up to me and say, you know, ‘This song helped me get through Iraq’ or ‘This song motivated me to go get my girl back’ or ‘helped me cope with the loss of a family member or close friend,’ that’s what really makes all this worth it, if you think about it. And get down to thinkin’ about just the music, yeah, of course it’s expression, that’s cliché, everybody knows that. But for me, as well as therapy, these songs are actually changin’ people’s lives, and that’s definitely music in a whole for me. That’s what it’s all about.”
