(AUDIO) Brantley Gilbert Says Varying Emotions In Songs Is Indicative Of Life

Brantley Gilbert’s latest single, “One Hell of an Amen,” is definitely a much different vibe than his last #1 song, “Bottoms Up,” but he says they’re both very honest songs that represent his life. Brantley believes in reliving the moments his songs were written about each time he sings them on stage, which might seem emotionally exhausting, but he says, “All my songs are like a part of my life, they’re like a part of me. There’s good times and there’s hard times and there’s tryin’ times, there’s times when you’re in love, times when your heart’s broke. And when we go out on stage the show is an emotional roller coaster and it goes up and down. I go with it.”

Brantley says because he feels each song so personally, “I don’t have to really try to put on a show. These songs really do move me and when I sing ‘Bottoms Up’ I’m partying. I’m watchin’ all the people in the crowd singin’ it back and their havin’ a blast and they got their beers up, I’m all about it. When you sing (‘One Hell of an Amen’) you react to the audience, I think, but more than that you just sing the song and sing it the best way you know how. Make sure it sounds good, but feel it too.”

Brantley just wrapped up his second tour in Europe, as part of the C2C Country to Country Festival. He’ll be headlining the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo this Wednesday night.

Brantley Gilbert – reliving songs live :57
“Anytime you write a song the right way you relive it every time you sing it. To me, I try to make songs as personal as I can. A song like, ‘Bottoms Up’, yah I’m not drinkin’ anymore but I’m around that environment almost every night of the week and I enjoy that environment, it’s a party. So, all my songs are like a part of my life, they’re like a part of me. There’s good times and there’s hard times and there’s tryin’ times, there’s times when you’re in love, times when your heart’s broke. And when we go out on stage the show is an emotional roller coaster and it goes up and down. I go with it. These songs, I don’t have to really try to put on a show, these songs really do move me and when I sing ‘Bottoms Up’ I’m partying. I’m watchin’ all the people in the crowd singin’ it back and their havin’ a blast and they got their beers up, I’m all about it. When you sing this song you react to the audience, I think, but more than that you just sing the song and sing it the best way you know how. Make sure it sounds good, but feel it too.”
