(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT SHARES WHAT’S ON HIS MIND WHEN HE’S ON STAGE

When Brantley Gilbert hits the stage he says, “It’s party time.  It’s the closest feeling I’ve ever felt to like walking out on the field on Friday night to play like high school football. It’s like all eyes are on you, you gotta do your job and you gotta do it well. But you’ve practiced and you know your job and it’s just all about having a good time.”

Brantley admits there are times when he sings some of his more heartfelt and emotional songs that his mind goes to more somber and therapeutic places.  He says, “All of (my songs) are close to me emotionally but I feel like if you write a song the right way you relive it every time you sing it. So a lot of them are, not harder to sing than others, there’s just more going on in my head. A lot of people ask you, is it hard to sing songs like that, if it’s a breakup song or if it’s a song about loss?  It’s not so much the case I found that, like I said, if you write it right you relive it every time but I feel like when you relive something you learn something different from it every time, and it’s actually helped me deal with a lot of things that those songs are about.”

Brantley just wrapped up The Devil Don’t Sleep tour this past weekend.  He’ll continue to promote his latest single, “The Ones That Like Me,” while he awaits the arrival of his first child in mid-November.

All of mine are close to me emotionally but I feel like if you write a song the right way you relive it every time you sing it.
