(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT STILL REMEMBERS THE ‘HARD DAYS’ WITHOUT HIS WIFE

Brantley Gilbert and his wife, Amber, dated off and on for ten years before they got married, and a lot of those years were back when Brantley was living through some rough times like he sings about in his new song, “Hard Days.”  Brantley has always been madly in love with Amber, but their relationship was never going to work until he got himself on the right path and got rid of some of the demons and bad habits that controlled his life.  Looking back on some of those “Hard Days” with Amber, Brantley says, “Yeah, that was the time when I was just like, ‘I know your mom has already told you I’m bad news and everybody’s, the whole town’s telling you that, and that may be the case, but I got YOU.  I clean up nice for you and do right by you. At that point in my life, you know, I thought that was enough and didn’t understand why it wasn’t.”

A lot, if not all, of the heartbreak songs Brantley wrote and recorded back in those days were about Amber, and he says, “When we were apart, I still remember what it was like to not have her and it’s like the one that got away.  It’s always on the back of your mind and makes it hard to move on.  And, every relationship, when you identify the strongest you felt about somebody, anybody new coming into that situation is kinda in a battle with a memory.  And we’ve all got the one that got away.  Mine just came back home.”

“Hard Days” is the first release off a new project Brantley is working on to follow-up his latest album, Fire & Brimstone.

“Yeah, that was the time when I was just like, ‘I know your mom has already told you I’m bad news and everybody’s, the whole town’s telling you that, and that may be the case, but I got YOU.  I clean up nice for you and do right by you. At that point in my life, you know, I thought that was enough and didn’t understand why it wasn’t, and a lot of those songs capture that sentiment. And when we were apart, I still remember what it was like to not have her and it’s like the one that got away.  It’s always on the back of your mind and makes it hard to move on.  And, every relationship, when you identify the strongest you felt about somebody, anybody new coming into that situation is kinda in a battle with a memory.  And we’ve all got the one that got away.  Mine just came back home.”
