(AUDIO) BRANTLEY GILBERT STRUGGLES TO DISCIPLINE WITHOUT LAUGHING

Brantley Gilbert’s 20-month-old son, Barrett, loves to see how much he can get away with sometimes, and Brantley admits the hardest part of drawing boundaries and disciplining him is doing it with a straight face.  “He tests me.  Really the hardest part right now is not laughing at him.  Because he knows he’s being funny and you tell him not to do something and … if I told him not to touch that camera, like, he’ll look at you the whole time and he like (puts his hand out), big smile …”

Brantley will put his foot down in situations like that and tell him no, and Barrett will shake his little head full of blonde curls ‘no,’ and do it again anyway.  Brantley says, “The hardest part is not laughing and kind of showing him that ‘Hey dude, I’m serious … kinda.”

Brantley’s wife, Amber, admittedly does a lot of the disciplining since she is with Barrett more often when the family is traveling on the road, and daddy’s working.  But when it does come to being the disciplinarian, tough-guy Brantley admits he’s a bit of a softie.

Brantley will soon be releasing details of his next album, which will be released later this year, featuring his current single with Lindsay Ell, “What Happens in a Small Town.”

Brantley Gilbert – disciplining Barrett

Brantley Gilbert – “He tests me.  Really the hardest part right now is not laughing at him.  Because he knows he’s being funny and you tell him not to do something and … if I told him not to touch that camera, like, he’ll look at you the whole time and he like, big smile …”

Lindsay Ell –  “And he knows.”

Brantley – “’Barrett, no.’ And then he’ll shake his head no and do it again. I mean the hardest part is not laughing and kind of showing him that ‘Hey dude, I’m serious … kinda.”
